The Journal of Australian, Canadian, and Aotearoa New Zealand Studies (JACANZS) is a peer reviewed, online, open access, nonprofit journal (it is published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License, but contributors still need to agree to a license agreement which can be viewed here) of the Australian, Canadian and New Zealand Studies Network (ACNZSN). ACNZSN is a member of CrossRef which will make articles and book reviews published in the journal easy to find, cite, assess, and reuse. JACANZS adopts a multi and interdisciplinary perspective. This includes history, politics, literature, law, anthropology, and Indigenous studies. JACANZS’ aim and scope is to publish articles in various disciplines on at least more than one country of focus of the journal, i.e. Australia and Canada or Canada and Aotearoa New Zealand etc. However, articles which focus on just one country are also welcome.
JACANZS is the only journal of its kind in the world. Therefore, it is breaking new ground. The open access nature of JACANZS means that research published in it will not be behind any expensive paywalls, and so will be disseminated much more widely. JACANZS will be published at least once a year. You can submit your manuscript at any point in the year and depending on how long a successful double, blind, peer review takes and any subsequent required revisions, your article will be published in the next issue.
The Editor-in-chief of JACANZS is Dr. Jatinder Mann who is also the Creator and Manager of ACNZSN, and has editorial experience through his book series on ‘Studies in Transnationalism’, as well as being the editor of a special issue of a journal and a member of the editorial board of another journal. JACANZS is supported by an editorial board of eminent scholars who work in the fields of Australian, Canadian, and Aotearoa New Zealand Studies all over the world.

JACANZS aims to publish articles of up to a maximum of 10,000 words in length, including footnotes and a short bibliography. These should be formatted according to the Chicago reference style. Manuscripts should also be double spaced and use Arial font, size 12. You can view the style guide for JACANZS here. All manuscripts should be anonymised and will undergo double blind peer review, after an initial vetting by the Editor-in-chief.

JACANZS is also open to proposals for special issues of the journal. Any queries about this should be directed to the Editor-in-chief at the above email address as well.
JACANZS has a book reviews section, which is edited by Dr. Jatinder Mann (University of Reading). Books that look at more than one country of focus of the journal will be prioritised, but books that look at just one country are also welcome. Reviews will be of 500-750 words in length.
