Journal Remit

Durham Undergraduate Research in Music & Science (DURMS) publishes empirical and theoretical papers by undergraduate students at Durham University that stand at the intersection of music and science. This work fits within such interdisciplinary fields as music psychology, empirical musicology, and computational musicology.

Submissions to this journal may be work that has been previously completed for relevant undergraduate modules (e.g. Music and Science, Psychology of Music, dissertations), which can be submitted to DURMS after such work has been submitted for course credit and assessed. Any work that has achieved a mark of II(i) (60+) or higher is eligible to be submitted to DURMS. Authors should be sure to revise the submission in line with the coursework marker’s feedback before submitting to DURMS, and work that achieved a mark of less than 70 should be accompanied by a Response Letter in which the author states how the marker’s feedback has been addressed to improve the quality of the work for publication. New work that has not previously been submitted as coursework and that will not be submitted for future coursework may also be considered in certain cases (e.g. independent research projects, book reviews).

All accepted submissions will be published in an Open Access, online format.

Volume 6 (Autumn 2023) of DURMS can now be accessed here!
